These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the boy bye (“bb”) mobile app (the “App”) and the website at boybye.tv (together, the “Service”), operated by the boy bye team (“we,” “us,” “our” — full legal details in our Impressum). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use bb.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. By using bb you confirm that you are 18 or older and able to enter into a binding agreement.
bb is operated from Germany and made available worldwide, but it is not directed at any particular country. You are responsible for making sure that your use of the Service complies with the laws that apply where you live.
2. What bb is (and isn’t)
bb is a personal, gamified journaling and relationship diary intended for self-reflection and entertainment. The “Love Score,” “Count Till Death,” affirmations, notes, and any other content are not professional advice of any kind — not medical, psychological, legal, or relationship counselling. They are game mechanics, not an assessment of anybody’s character or a recommendation about what you should do. Decisions about your relationships are always yours alone.
bb does not cause, encourage, endorse, or predict any action toward any person. “Count Till Death” is the name of a game counter and nothing more — it does not refer to, wish for, or predict harm to anyone. Whatever you choose to do in your life and your relationships is your own decision and your own responsibility, whether or not it relates to anything you logged in bb.
bb is not a crisis service and cannot help in an emergency. If you are struggling, in danger, or experiencing harmful or abusive behaviour, please contact someone you trust, a qualified professional, or your local emergency services. We list real support resources at boybye.tv/help.
3. Your account
- You’re responsible for keeping your login credentials and any diary PIN confidential.
- You’re responsible for activity that happens under your account. Tell us promptly at hello@boybye.tv if you suspect unauthorised use.
4. Your content & responsibilities
You keep ownership of everything you create in bb — names, photos, notes, letters, and entries (“Your Content”). You grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence to store, process, and display Your Content solely to operate the Service for you (for example, to host your photos and sync your diary across your devices). We don’t use Your Content for anything else.
You agree that you will not use bb to:
- upload content you have no right to use, or that infringes anyone’s rights;
- upload another person’s photo or personal information without a lawful basis, or in a way that harasses, threatens, defames, or violates their privacy;
- store or share unlawful, abusive, or exploitative material;
- break the law, or attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorised access to the Service.
5. Intellectual property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, fonts, artwork, and the “boy bye” and “bb” names, is owned by us and protected by intellectual-property laws. It is provided to you under a personal, limited, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for its intended purpose. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, or create derivative works from any part of the Service without our prior written permission.
6. Third-party services & the App Store
bb relies on third parties (including Supabase and remove.bg) and is distributed through the Apple App Store. Your use of those services is also subject to their terms. You acknowledge that:
- These Terms are between you and us only — not with Apple.
- Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for the App, and is not responsible for any product warranties or claims.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You also agree to comply with the Apple Media Services / App Store Terms and the standard end-user licence agreement that applies to App Store apps.

8. Disclaimers
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE SECURE, ERROR-FREE, OR AVAILABLE, OR THAT YOUR DATA WILL NEVER BE LOST. Please keep your own copies of anything important.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights you have that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including mandatory consumer-protection rights).
9. Limitation of liability
bb is a free personal diary app. You pay us nothing to use it, and we make no money from you. In return: YOU USE BB ENTIRELY AT YOUR OWN RISK AND, TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ACCEPT NO LIABILITY OF ANY KIND TO YOU OR TO ANYONE ELSE ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THE SERVICE, THESE TERMS, OR ANYTHING YOU DO (OR DON’T DO) AS A RESULT OF USING BB.
Without limiting that, we are not liable for, and you waive any claim in respect of:
- any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, and any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, opportunity, or reputation;
- the loss, corruption, deletion, or unavailability of Your Content, your account, or your diary — keep your own copies of anything you care about;
- any decision you make, action you take, or feeling you have based on anything in bb, including the Love Score, Count Till Death, affirmations, streaks, notes, or any other content or game mechanic;
- anything you do, or anyone else does, to any person — including any harm caused by a user of the Service to another person, and anything that happens between you and anyone you write about in bb — whether or not it relates to something logged in bb;
- the acts, omissions, outages, data breaches, or policy changes of third parties we rely on or are distributed through (including Supabase, remove.bg, Apple, and your device or network provider);
- bugs, errors, downtime, interruptions, security incidents, or the modification or discontinuation of any part of the Service;
- anyone else gaining access to your account, device, or diary, whether or not you shared a PIN.
BECAUSE THE SERVICE IS FREE, IF ANY LIABILITY IS FOUND TO EXIST DESPITE THE ABOVE, OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ALL CLAIMS COMBINED IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SERVICE, WHICH IS ZERO (0 EUR). You agree that this allocation of risk is fair given that bb costs you nothing.
The only exceptions are those the law does not let us exclude: liability for intent or gross negligence, for injury to life, body, or health caused by our negligence, and for fraud. In those cases our liability is limited to the extent the law allows.
10. Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold us and our team members, contractors, and service providers harmless from and against any claim, demand, loss, damage, cost, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) brought by anyone and arising out of or related to:
- your use of the Service;
- Your Content, including anything you record about another person;
- anything you do or fail to do, including any act toward another person, whether or not it is connected to anything in bb;
- your breach of these Terms or of any law; or
- your violation of anyone else’s rights.
We may take over the defence of any matter covered by this section, and you agree to cooperate with us in that case.
11. Suspension & termination
You can stop using bb and delete your account at any time from within the App. We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or use the Service unlawfully. On termination, your licence to use the Service ends; sections that by their nature should survive (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will continue to apply.
12. Changes to the Service or these Terms
We may update, change, or discontinue parts of the Service, and we may revise these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Continuing to use bb after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union and the member state in which we are established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. The courts of that member state will have jurisdiction over any dispute, except that, if you are a consumer, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections and the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence under applicable EU consumer law.
